Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is a large medical school in northern Tehran, Iran.
The school was founded in 1961 as part of Shahid Beheshti University, and was re-structured in 1986 when it separated off onto its own. Apart from its teaching and research commitments, the university is also responsible for health care provision to a community of four million people living in northern and northeastern Tehran and the neighbouring cities of Damavand, Firuzkuh, Varamin and Pakdasht.
The school consists of 8 Faculties, 12 Teaching Hospitals, 6 Non-teaching Hospitals, and 7 District Health Centers.

The optometry program was established in 1972. Initially the course was designed as a higher diploma in optometry (two years undergraduate studies) and was upgraded to a four-year BSc with Honours programme in 1984. The teaching medium is Persian though most text books and literature are used in English.
